The Daejeon City Social Service Institute (President Kim Insik) ranked first nationwide for two consecutive years (2024-2025) in the national management evaluation of social service institutes, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This achievement demonstrates that the welfare innovation policies promoted by Daejeon City have led to tangible results, proving that its welfare policies are among the best in the country.

In this evaluation, the Social Service Institute received a total score of 98.71 points, earning the highest S grade among social service institutes in 15 cities and provinces. The institute achieved top scores in both the management evaluation, which assesses institutional operations, and the performance evaluation of the president’s work, and was also awarded the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.

In particular, the following initiatives were selected as outstanding cases: the "Diversification of Social Service Providers Project" in connection with the smart city policy, and the "Establishment of an Innovative Support Ecosystem for Foreign Residents." These cases are recognized as representative achievements combining welfare administration and regional innovation, as they demonstrate the success of Daejeon City's efforts to develop advanced technology-based welfare models and multicultural and migrant-friendly policies in practice.

Additionally, in a user satisfaction survey conducted by the Central Social Service Institute, Daejeon scored 95.2 points, which is 2.1 points higher than the national average of 93.1 points. This indicates that the city’s policy efforts focused on citizen-oriented welfare have translated into actual user satisfaction.

Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "The achievements of the Social Service Institute are the achievements of Daejeon's welfare policies," adding, "We will continue to create customized welfare and future-oriented welfare models that citizens can truly feel, making Daejeon a leading city in welfare in Korea."
