POSCO has launched a technology support initiative targeting small and medium-sized venture companies in Jeonnam, Gwangyang, and Pohang, aiming to foster a venture-friendly ecosystem.
This technology support initiative is led by the POSCO Venture Support Group. The POSCO Venture Support Group was established to revitalize venture startups and create a startup ecosystem in the Gwangyang region, as well as in Jeonnam and Pohang, based on industry-academia-research collaboration.
This initiative is part of POSCO's unique venture support program and will be operated by 55 researchers with master's and doctoral degrees, providing systematic technology support to local venture companies.
For this technology support initiative, which accepted applications until July, 11 local venture companies in the fields of equipment and control devices, composite materials, and secondary battery materials were selected.
For the selected companies, the program will provide technology consulting by matching each company with suitable experts, Solution Day sessions where multiple experts and companies discuss and identify solutions, and problem-solving projects (PJT) aimed at improving manufacturing facilities, quality, and productivity.
In particular, all technology support will be conducted as part of subsidy programs from Gwangyang and Pohang, allowing beneficiary companies to achieve technological innovation without financial burden. In the field of technology consulting, matched experts will offer a comprehensive support program, not only providing technical assistance but also supporting project planning, test analysis, and product certification.
Additionally, through three-month problem-solving projects, POSCO plans to provide full support to help matched companies expand product sales and achieve technological innovation based on process improvements.
The POSCO Venture Support Group will offer customized technology support to the selected companies, considering each company’s industry sector and technological capabilities.
Previously, in the first technology support initiative launched after the establishment of the Venture Support Group last year, 31 technology consultations were provided to 16 beneficiary companies by December, including support for smart factory construction and robotic automation.
A representative from the POSCO Venture Support Group stated, "We will actively support companies so they can overcome technological challenges and take a leap forward," adding, "We will continue to provide practical support for the growth and innovation of local venture companies."
