Busan Port Authority (BPA), led by President Song Sanggeun, was awarded the Prime Minister's Award in recognition of its proactive use of recycled aggregate during port development projects.
On September 6, BPA was selected as the 'Best Institution' at the 16th Contest for Outstanding Cases of Recycled Aggregate and Recycled Aggregate Product Utilization, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

In the Phase 1-1 construction of Jinhae New Port, BPA became the first in Korea to specify in the bidding guidelines the use of recycled aggregate instead of natural aggregate as infill material for port structures (caissons). In addition, BPA contributed to resource circulation policies through related technology development, patent applications, and the establishment of utilization manuals.
This contest is held annually to promote the recycling of construction waste and the high-quality use of recycled aggregate. BPA was also selected as the 'Best Institution' and received the Prime Minister's Award in 2022.
Song Sanggeun, President of BPA, stated, "We will continue to expand the use of recycled aggregate at port construction sites to reduce budgets and take the lead in building environmentally friendly ports," adding, "We will strive to support the government's resource circulation policies."
