Ulsan City Announces Winners of the 15th Public Design Competition

Ulsan City has selected a total of 27 winning entries in the 15th Ulsan Metropolitan City Public Design Competition, including the Grand Prize winner, "Honeybee Fairy Floby."

This competition was held under the theme of creating a representative character and applied designs to symbolize and promote the successful hosting of the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo.

From July 23 to July 29, a total of 198 works were submitted nationwide. After a verification process, the final judging took place on August 29.

The judging panel, composed of public design experts, evaluated the entries comprehensively based on artistry, originality, applicability, and popularity. As a result, a total of 27 works were selected as winners, including one Grand Prize, two Gold Prizes, two Silver Prizes, two Bronze Prizes, ten Special Prizes, and ten Honorable Mentions.

This work was praised for harmoniously expressing the images of the Industrial Tower and cosmos flowers, capturing both Ulsan's industrial identity and its garden culture. The judges recognized its originality, completeness, potential for commercialization, and broad public appeal-qualities that earned it the highest score.

An official from Ulsan City stated, "This competition has served as an opportunity to increase citizens' interest and participation in the 2028 International Garden Expo," adding, "The outstanding works selected will be actively used in official promotional materials, souvenirs, and exhibitions to enhance the brand value of the Expo."

The winning entries will be exhibited in conjunction with the 9th Ulsan Architecture Culture Festival, which will be held at the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center from September 18 to 21. The exhibition is open to all citizens, and the winners will receive the Ulsan Mayor's Award along with a total prize fund of 15 million won (with 8 million won for the Grand Prize).
