On Friday, September 5, most regions across the country are expected to see mostly cloudy skies, with scattered showers mainly in the Chungcheong region and southern areas.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, rainfall of 5 to 20 millimeters is expected in the southern part of Yeongdong, Gangwon Province, and along the east coast of North Gyeongsang Province until early morning. There may also be less than 0.1 millimeters of drizzle in the central and northern parts of Yeongdong, Gangwon Province. From the afternoon into the night, localized showers are forecast for the Chungcheong region, Jeolla region, western inland areas of Gyeongsang Province, and Jeju Island. In particular, Ulleungdo and Dokdo are expected to receive relatively heavy rainfall of 10 to 60 millimeters.
Morning lows will range from 20 to 26 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will reach 28 to 34 degrees Celsius, which is somewhat higher than average for this time of year. The Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "With temperatures rising during the day, the late summer heat will persist, and the large temperature difference between day and night means people should take care of their health."
Air quality is forecast to remain at a "good" level nationwide, as atmospheric dispersion is expected to be favorable.
Wave heights are expected to range from 0.5 to 2.0 meters off the east and south coasts, 0.5 to 1.0 meters off the west coast, and in offshore areas, 1.0 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the South Sea.
The Korea Meteorological Administration also cautioned, "In areas affected by showers, strong gusts of wind as well as thunder and lightning may occur, so please be mindful of safety accidents."
