Korea National Oil Corporation Holds Company-Wide Safety Inspection Meeting Presided Over by President Kim Dongseop

Korea National Oil Corporation (President Kim Dongseop) held a company-wide safety inspection meeting at the main control room of its headquarters on September 4, presided over by President Kim Dongseop.

This meeting was organized to actively respond to the government’s recent emphasis on preventing major accidents and strengthening safety management policies, and furthermore, to lead a culture of safety across the industry as a public enterprise.

The meeting was attended by President Kim Dongseop, the head of the Oil Stockpiling Division, and others. Nine business sites across the country were connected via video conference, enabling direct communication with field personnel and immediate discussion of response measures.

Key topics discussed in depth included: identifying and improving risk factors in high-risk operations; five major accident prevention measures (falls, entrapment, collisions, fire and explosions, suffocation); and strengthening the effectiveness of the emergency response system, all closely linked to government policies.

Through this meeting, the corporation decided to go beyond a simple inspection and conduct a company-wide review of the ‘KNOC Four Major Safety Commitments,’ while also strengthening a field-oriented safety management system.

In particular, the corporation plans to establish a ‘shared safety culture’ involving all members, including partner company workers, and to set a leading example in proactively implementing the government’s major accident prevention policies.

President Kim Dongseop stated, “Public enterprises must take the lead in supporting the government’s efforts to reduce industrial accidents to OECD levels and to substantially decrease occupational fatalities. Not only for the remainder of 2025, but also in the years to come, I will take the initiative to proactively improve our systems and ensure that company-wide safety rules are strictly observed so that not a single major accident occurs.”
