The Korea Disaster Relief Association and Korea Land and Housing Corporation recognized a total of seven individuals as 'LH Honorary Heroes': teachers Jaekyu Park and Donghan Kim, who rescued a resident swept away by a torrent in Cheongdo, North Gyeongsang Province; Jinju Park and Junhee Yoo, who saved a family of four from a vehicle buried in a landslide in Sancheong, South Gyeongsang Province; firefighters Wonil Choi and Kangjun Lee, who rescued a woman from a stranded car during heavy rain in Gwangju Metropolitan City; and citizen Jongjun Moon, who rescued three elderly people from a flooded residential area. All seven were honored at the awards ceremony.
Kim Jaekyung, Head of Management at Korea Land and Housing Corporation, said, "I hope that the stories of these citizen heroes, who risked their lives to save others in dangerous situations such as flash floods and landslides caused by heavy rain, will become widely known throughout our society."
Shin Hoon, Secretary General of the Korea Disaster Relief Association, stated, "We will continue to work with Korea Land and Housing Corporation to publicize these noble acts witnessed at disaster sites, so that the stories of citizen heroes can help transform our disaster response culture."
The 'LH Honorary Hero Award' is a program that uses a sharing fund created through salary deductions from Korea Land and Housing Corporation employees to discover and honor unsung heroes in our society who set an example for others in dangerous situations such as disasters and housing safety. It has been implemented together with the Korea Disaster Relief Association since 2023.
