Since its inception in 2019, the "Daejeon City Master Artisan" program, which selects highly skilled technicians with the highest level of expertise and technical proficiency in local industries, has produced a total of 18 master artisans to date.
This year, Daejeon City selected Kim Jaehoon, CEO of Diahalls Design in the product design category, and Lee Jaesu, CEO of Iganesikpum in the food processing category, as master artisans.
The final selection was made after a review of documents and interviews by a panel of experts in each field over approximately three months.
Kim Jaehoon has been working in the field of design development since 1996, obtaining national certifications such as product design engineer, and has been actively involved as an Excellent Skilled Technician designated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2022 and as a Star Technician Ambassador in both 2023 and 2024.
He also holds two patents and two design registrations, has published two books, and has contributed to passing on his expertise as an industrial field instructor.
Lee Jaesu has worked in the meat processing and food development sector for 36 years since 1988, running a food company. He was selected as an Excellent Skilled Technician by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2023, holds 12 food-related patents, and has contributed significantly to the local community, including over 500 hours of volunteer work.
The master artisans selected this year will receive a certificate and a plaque of recognition, as well as an annual incentive of 3 million won per person for five years.
Kwon Kyungmin, Director of Economic Affairs for Daejeon City, stated, "The highest level of skilled technology is the result of years of dedication and forms the foundation for regional industrial development. We will continue to foster a technology-friendly environment where technicians are respected and can fully demonstrate their capabilities."
