"AI Robots" to Debut in Everland Parade... Developed by Rainbow Robotics

Samsung C&T Resort Division Everland announced on September 4 that, during the upcoming autumn festival "Everland of Oz," which will be held from September 5 to November 16, quadruped robots equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) walking capabilities will participate in a parade for the first time in Korea.

Quadruped robots dressed in stage costumes will join the parade, which is considered the highlight of the theme park's performances, marching alongside human dancers and showcasing a variety of acts in front of the audience. This marks the first time that robots are being deployed in a parade at a Korean theme park.

The quadruped robots joining this parade are two units of the "RBQ Series," developed by robotics specialist Rainbow Robotics. The RBQ Series can operate using both dynamics-based and AI-based walking, allowing for flexible transitions depending on the situation. Even without visual information, the robots can stably walk up stairs and ramps using only AI-based walking. Beyond simple walking, they are capable of executing advanced movements such as handstands and side-standing, making them highly versatile for various settings.

The two RBQ Series robots appearing at Everland will lead the "Smiley Pumpkin Parade," which lasts about 35 minutes during the autumn festival, marching at the front and performing dances such as waves, jumps, and standing on two legs in sync with the music and story, providing fun and laughter to visitors.

Everland and Rainbow Robotics have newly developed AI-based motions to ensure the robots can safely march along the 600-meter parade route in line with the performance theme. Dozens of tests were conducted to ensure their stability.

The Smiley Pumpkin Parade featuring the quadruped robots will be held once daily in the afternoon throughout the Everland Autumn Festival.

Meanwhile, starting September 5, the autumn festival will feature a variety of attractions throughout the park themed around The Wizard of Oz, including the Emerald City and Blood City, focusing on the fantasy adventures of Dorothy and her friends.
