Promoting Local Government Solidarity Through Mutual Support

On September 4, Ulsan City announced the emergency provision of 48,000 bottles of 2-liter bottled water to help overcome the drought in the Gangneung area.

This support aims to provide practical assistance to Gangneung citizens experiencing inconvenience due to a shortage of domestic water, and to promote solidarity and cooperation among local governments.

To this end, at 2:30 p.m. on the same day, a bottled water donation (delivery) event to support Gangneung's drought relief will be held in the courtyard of Ulsan City Hall, with Ulsan City spokesperson Lim Hyuncheol and relevant staff members participating.

The event will include the delivery of messages of encouragement and a send-off for vehicles loaded with bottled water.

Gangneung has recently faced difficulties in supplying tap water due to a prolonged drought, making it challenging even to secure water for daily life. Ulsan City decided to provide this support to share in these hardships and to fulfill the role of local governments in helping one another during crises.

This donation, in particular, is connected to the case in April when Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province delivered 200 million won in relief funds to wildfire-affected areas in Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang Provinces. At that time, Gangwon Province expressed its intention to help residents quickly return to their daily lives, extending warmth to Ulsan and the Gyeongsang region.

Through this bottled water support, Ulsan City aims to carry on this goodwill and put into practice the spirit of mutual aid in the face of disasters and emergencies.

A city official stated, "We want to offer even a small measure of support to Gangneung citizens, with the belief that the difficulties of one region are also our own," adding, "We will continue to share hardships and strengthen cooperation among local governments in the future."
