Minister Hwi-Young Choi Holds Literature and Art Roundtable: "Active Support for Young Artists"

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that Minister Hwi-Young Choi met with field experts in literature and art at the Artist's House in Seoul on the afternoon of September 3 to listen to their opinions for the establishment of policies to promote literature and art.


The roundtable was attended by Professor Kwon Aram of Konkuk University, Kim Sangcheol, Director of the Korea Culture Policy Institute, Professor Kim Jieun of Seoul Institute of the Arts, Baek Dahum, Editor-in-Chief of Ax, author Son Wonpyeong, author Oh Jaeseong, Lee Myeongok, President of the Korea Visual Arts Copyright Association, and author Jo Onyoon, among others.

The participants unanimously emphasized the need for a support system that enables young artists to focus on their creative work. Some attendees also noted that now, with growing international interest in K-culture, is the right time for Korean art to expand overseas, and stressed that collaboration among various organizations is essential for the sustainable growth of K-culture.


Minister Hwi-Young Choi stated, "For the advancement of culture and the arts in Korea, it is most important to ensure a steady influx of young artists and to expand the public's access to cultural experiences. By incorporating on-site feedback into policy, we will support artists' creative activities and achieve the era of a 300 trillion won K-culture market."


Prior to this roundtable, Minister Hwi-Young Choi continued his on-site communication efforts by holding a meeting with heads of associations and organizations in the arts sector on September 1, and a meeting with performing artists on September 2.
