Donghae City to Host "4th Songjeong Makgeolli Festival" at Donghae Station Plaza on the 5th and 6th

The "4th Songjeong Makgeolli Festival," a representative local festival of Songjeong-dong in Donghae City, Gangwon Province, will be held for two days from the 5th to the 6th at Donghae Station Plaza. This year's festival is organized by the Songjeong Makgeolli Festival Promotion Committee, chaired by Kim Changyeol.

This festival, returning for the first time in two years since the highly successful 3rd Songjeong Makgeolli Festival in 2023, is expected to welcome citizens and tourists with even more diverse programs and attractions.

On the first day, September 5, the festivities will begin with a pre-ceremony performance, followed by performances from the Navy 1st Fleet Military Band and the Cambo Band, the Donghae City Civic Choir's "Makgeolli Song," and stages featuring Jeon Hyangjin, the first North Korean defector singer, as well as invited singers Hong Seonjang and Hong Hyeri.

On the second day, a variety of performances will continue, including shows by local clubs, traditional dance, and invited singers Park Hana, Park Seyoung, Myunghee, and Kim Sunyoung. There will also be interactive programs for the audience, such as a 1990s Night Mix Dance Time, an acrostic poem contest with the MC, and a chopsticks rhythm contest.

In addition, the festival grounds will feature a food court where visitors can sample Songjeong Makgeolli, the region's specialty liquor, along with various snacks. There will also be a promotional and experience zone in collaboration with local organizations, an exhibition area displaying nostalgic items, and an event and play zone for families, offering a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy.

Shim Hyunsoo, head of Songjeong-dong, stated, "Through this festival, we hope to showcase various attractions that embody the unique stories and culture of Songjeong, and to lay the foundation for revitalizing the local community and urban regeneration. We will continue to do our best to make Songjeong-dong a great place to live."
