Jihyun Park, former emergency committee chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, shared her experience after working a short-term part-time job at the Coupang logistics center.

On the 2nd, Park posted on her social networking service (SNS), "I worked a part-time job at Coupang. From 1 a.m. to 9 a.m., I earned 199,548 won. With additional allowances, it was quite a substantial amount," she explained.

Park also mentioned that she had received about 1,000 comments on her SNS telling her to "just get a part-time job." She added, "Even before entering politics, I had various part-time jobs, including working at a pharmacy, a cafe (cleaning tables and restrooms while going up and down a four-story building), serving, handing out flyers, and working in a restaurant kitchen."

Park explained that she was quite nervous due to the notorious reputation of part-time work at Coupang. "At 11:55 p.m., I boarded the shuttle bus among sleepy people," she said. "When I arrived at the logistics hub around 12:40 a.m., people of all kinds had gathered there. There was a wide range of ages, and the gender ratio was about half and half. Several people already seemed to know each other well," she recalled.

She continued, "My job was sorting goods, and products kept pouring out onto the conveyor belt. Snacks, detergent, rice, furniture boxes, and for the customer who ordered four bundles of six bottles of water at once, I couldn't help but feel a bit resentful." She added, "After working for four and a half hours, we were given a much-needed break. The 30 minutes passed by like three minutes. My eyelids felt heavy, my feet and back hurt, and I briefly wanted to go home, but the reality that I wouldn't receive the additional allowance if I left early kept that urge in check."

She also said, "As soon as the break was over and I returned to work, items started pouring onto the conveyor belt like a waterfall. Watching that, I briefly thought about the series of difficult events I faced in the first half of this year, but there was no time to dwell on those thoughts." She added, "In fact, it was good. I think I needed something that wouldn't give me any space for idle thoughts right now."
