HDC Hyundai Development Company to Introduce Autonomous Parking Robot at Songpa Hanyang 2nd

HDC Hyundai Development Company has proposed the introduction of an autonomous parking robot at Songpa Hanyang 2nd that will handle both parking and vehicle retrieval on behalf of residents.

On September 2, HDC Hyundai Development Company announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with HL Robotics and would introduce the AI-based autonomous parking robot "Parkie" to the Songpa Hanyang 2nd apartment reconstruction project, marking the first time such technology will be used in a domestic apartment complex.

"Parkie" is a parking robot based on Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) technology. When a driver leaves their car in a designated area, the robot moves underneath the vehicle, lifts the wheels, and finds an available space to park the car. It essentially provides a robotic valet parking service.

For vehicle retrieval, residents can summon their cars to the exit area using a dedicated app or wall pad, and the vehicle will automatically be brought to the designated spot. This dramatically reduces parking time and lowers the risk of minor accidents within the parking lot. Utilizing autonomous parking robots can increase space efficiency by more than 30% compared to traditional parking lots, as it minimizes the need for entry/exit space and driving lanes.

HDC Hyundai Development Company has presented its vision to transform Songpa Hanyang 2nd into a "Smart AI Landmark," going beyond a simple residential space. HL Robotics' "Parkie" has been recognized for its technological capabilities at various domestic and international exhibitions such as CES, and has proven its efficiency and stability through operational experience in various types of buildings. Starting with this agreement, the two companies plan to expand their cooperation in the field of smart residential solutions.
