[Winners Club] Shin Dain Clinches Victory with Precision

Shin Dain has made headlines.

On August 31, at the Sunny Point Country Club (par 72) in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, she claimed victory at the KG Ladies Open on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, which had a total prize fund of 1 billion won. After tying with Yoo Hyunjoo and Han Bitna, she secured a birdie on the second playoff hole at the 18th (par 5) to win the tournament. Having debuted on the regular tour last year without a single top-10 finish, she reached the top for the first time at this event. The winner's prize is 180 million won.

In the first playoff, she landed her second shot just 2.2 meters from the hole and made the birdie, then in the second playoff, she sank a 5.5-meter birdie putt to clinch the victory. Born in 2001 and joining the tour in July 2020, Shin Dain had never finished in the top 10 on the regular tour before. Last year, in her first full season, she missed the cut in 17 out of 26 tournaments, with her best result being a tie for 22nd. This year, prior to this win, she failed to make the cut in 9 out of 18 tournaments, with her highest finish being tied for 14th.

Shin Dain's accuracy with her tee shots and irons stood out. For her driver, she chose the Ping G440 Max, known for its forgiveness and distance. Her irons were the Bridgestone 241CB, and her wedges were the Bridgestone Biting Spin, which she used to attack the greens. These clubs are also known for their spin and distance control.

Immediately after her victory, Shin Dain said, "I promised myself that I would make the Sunny Point Country Club, where the tournament was held, a turning point in my life, and it feels like that promise has come true. I want to win again in the remaining tournaments this season," she expressed her determination.
