Yangsan City, an International Safe City, Holds Meeting with Green Mothers' Association

On August 27, Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province held a meeting with the Green Mothers' Association and discussed matters related to the International Safe City initiative in the main conference room at Yangsan City Hall.

This meeting was organized to share the achievements of Yangsan City's ongoing International Safe City accreditation project and to promote children's traffic safety and foster a citizen-participatory safety culture through cooperation with community members.

More than 100 members of the Yangsan Green Mothers' Association, along with Mayor Na Dongyeon and relevant city officials, attended the meeting. In-depth discussions were held on topics such as improvements to traffic safety within school zones, challenges faced during traffic guidance activities before and after school hours, and requests for facility improvements within child protection zones.

In particular, the meeting featured policy suggestions on traffic safety that reflected the Green Mothers' Association's on-site experiences, and collaborative measures for the practical implementation and improvement of policies were discussed. There was also an opportunity for participants to share a variety of safety-related opinions based on their experiences as citizens. Yangsan City plans to actively incorporate these insights into future policies.

Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "To establish our status as an International Safe City, not only administrative efforts but also active citizen participation are essential," adding, "We will do our utmost to make Yangsan a truly safe city where everyone can feel secure by actively reflecting the voices of citizen safety organizations such as the Green Mothers' Association."

Since being accredited as an International Safe City in 2024, Yangsan City has been implementing safety policies in various areas including traffic, crime, and disasters. The city is realizing 'Yangsan, a citizen-centered safe city' through ongoing communication with local residents, organizations, and private experts.
