Cheongsong County Agricultural Products Market Opens, Begins Auction of 2025 Apples

On August 25, Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province opened the Cheongsong County Agricultural Products Market and began the auction of apples harvested in 2025.

On the first day of the opening, 2,205 boxes of apples were put up for auction, with the Hongro variety making up the majority of the shipments.

The average winning bid for Hongro apples was 94,057 won per 20kg box, which is more than 15% higher than the price during the same period last year.

Since its opening in November 2019, the Cheongsong County Agricultural Products Market has seen its shipment volume increase by approximately seven times over four years (from 1,905 tons to 13,236 tons). In addition, the number of participating farms has reached about 1,700 out of the total 4,600 apple farms in the county, establishing the market as a key distribution hub for the Cheongsong apple industry.

County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "I am grateful to the farmers who have carefully cultivated and shipped fresh apples despite difficult conditions such as wildfire damage and climate change this year." He added, "The county will continue to develop support measures to help reduce production costs and increase the income of our farmers."
