Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) has announced its intention to take strong legal action against illegal activities by the labor union.

On August 26, GGM issued an official statement expressing regret over the illegal intrusion and occupation of its workplace by the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korean Metal Workers' Union, which occurred on August 22.

GGM claimed that "around 40 union members entered the company premises without permission under the pretext of meeting with the CEO and held a rally," adding, "There were serious illegal acts, including violent behavior toward security guards and employees, as well as damage to workplace facilities."

A company official emphasized, "We will take strict legal action against both individual and collective illegal acts related to this incident."

On the other hand, the union, together with civic organizations, held a press conference and countered, "There was an incident of workplace violence against the union branch president, which constitutes a serious violation of workers' dignity."

Previously, on the morning of August 22, a physical clash broke out at the GGM factory in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, due to conflict between labor and management over the refinancing of a loan worth 190 billion won.
