On the morning of August 26, at 10:00 AM, Ulsan City will hold a 'National Agenda Linked Project Discovery Briefing' in the main conference room on the second floor of the city hall's main building to review strategies for promoting key regional projects.
This briefing is a follow-up measure by Ulsan City in response to the five-year national governance plan announced by the National Policy Planning Committee on August 13. It has been organized to review strategies for effectively reflecting Ulsan's current issues and new projects in the implementation plans of various government ministries.
The meeting, presided over by Mayor Kim Dukyum and attended by directors and department heads, will focus on reviewing promotion strategies and government response measures for 90 national agenda-linked projects identified by each department.
The projects under review cover a wide range of areas aligned with the government's core policy directions, including: establishing an artificial intelligence (AI) industrial base; fostering new growth industries such as secondary batteries, hydrogen, and carbon neutrality; expanding essential infrastructure for disaster safety, transportation, and the environment; and revitalizing K-culture, tourism, and sports industries.
Representative new projects include: establishing a sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) cluster for manufacturing industries; building an eco-friendly underwater data center complex; creating a dedicated RE100 industrial complex; developing a startup city hub in the southeastern region; attracting a Ulsan branch of the National Hangeul Museum; and creating a climate-safe city. Long-standing local projects such as the construction of a canoe slalom stadium, inclusion of three congested roads (including the Munsu-ro bypass) in the national plan, and the construction of Ulsan Metro Line 2 are also included.
Additionally, the meeting will proactively discuss strategies for securing national funding for 15 major regional pledge projects, such as supporting the creation of a cultural entertainment park, establishing the Banguchon World Heritage historical and cultural space, and supporting the construction of the Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan metropolitan railway.
Ulsan City will continue to discover and develop new projects and policies even after this briefing. In particular, the city plans to focus on refining the logic and policy responses to ensure these projects are reflected in the implementation plans of government ministries.
Mayor Kim Dukyum stated, "Now is the optimal time to prepare for Ulsan's future by linking with the government's national agenda," and urged, "Please pool the capabilities of all departments to thoroughly review the feasibility of the discovered projects and strategies for securing national funding so that they can be incorporated into the government's plans."
