KNR Introduces "Ongoing Private Proposal System" for State-Owned Railway Land Development

Private proposals for the utilization of state-owned railway land can now be submitted at any time.

The Korea National Railway (hereinafter referred to as KNR) announced on the 25th that it will improve its private proposal solicitation system and launch a new call for proposals to revitalize the development of state-owned railway land.

The core of this system improvement is that KNR will pre-analyze and publicly disclose suitable sites for development, allowing private businesses to submit proposals at any time without a deadline.

Currently, seven sites, including the Chogok Station site in Samcheok, Gangwon Province, have been disclosed as eligible for ongoing proposals. The list of available sites will be updated once every half-year, and in the second half of the year, KNR plans to conduct additional calls for various development projects beyond the ongoing proposals.

Through this, KNR expects to operate both fixed-term and ongoing calls flexibly according to the conditions of each development site, enabling the collection of more diverse and innovative business plans.

In addition, the improved system includes the introduction of a standardized solicitation guideline that significantly simplifies the required volume and scope of proposals, thereby reducing the burden on private businesses and encouraging their participation.

Further details regarding the system improvements can be found on the KNR website.

Lee Seonghae, President of KNR, stated, "We hope that this system improvement will serve as an opportunity to broadly gather various private proposals," and added, "We ask for the interest and participation of the private sector to promote public-private joint development of state-owned railway land."
