Dongwon Home Food has obtained Halal certification for its seasoning food production plant and has begun efforts to globalize K-sauces.
Dongwon Home Food announced on the 25th that it has established a dedicated Halal powder production line at its Asan facility, which manufactures seasoning foods, and has received Halal certification from the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH). The powder products manufactured on this production line will be supplied to a variety of clients in the future, including food service franchises.
'Halal' is an Arabic word meaning 'permissible,' referring to products that Muslims can consume or use. For food, certification is only granted to products that are produced, processed, and distributed in accordance with Islamic law. According to data from the Korea International Trade Association, the global Halal food market is expected to reach approximately $2 trillion (about 2,800 trillion won) this year.
Dongwon Home Food supplies sauces, powders, and other products to more than 1,000 clients, including food companies and food service franchises. Based on over 3,000 ingredients and more than 80,000 recipes, the company delivers a diverse range of flavors tailored to client needs, and has recently been accelerating its overseas expansion with K-sauces at the forefront.
VIVID KITCHEN, a brand specializing in low-sugar and low-calorie sauces, is introducing Korean sauces worldwide, including Kimchi Salsa and Kimchi Chipotle Mayo, which incorporate fermented kimchi, as well as Gochujang Hot Sauce and Bulgogi BBQ Sauce. VIVID KITCHEN’s Korean sauces have been exported to the United States, Australia, Canada, Vietnam, and other countries since last year, and have ranked among the top sellers in the sauce category on Amazon, a major U.S. e-commerce platform.
A Dongwon Home Food representative stated, "We acquired Halal certification to meet client demands in line with the growth of the global Halal market," adding, "We will actively secure both domestic and international clients by expanding the certification scope to include not only powders but also sauces."
