The Homigot Peninsula Scenic Agriculture Complex in Pohang has completed preparations to showcase its beautiful autumn scenery.
This year, the city has sown large fields of autumn flowers such as buckwheat and sunflowers, offering an abundance of sights for both residents and tourists.
The Homigot Peninsula Scenic Agriculture Complex began development in 2018, and has since become a year-round tourist attraction by planting a variety of crops each year, including canola flowers, colored barley, buckwheat flowers, and sunflowers. This year, the flower fields have been expanded to approximately 100 hectares (300,000 pyeong), creating an even more vibrant landscape.
This second round of planting covers 30 hectares of buckwheat and 8 hectares of sunflowers. The buckwheat flowers are expected to be in full bloom by mid-September, while the sunflowers will create a spectacular view during the Chuseok holiday season, providing a picturesque autumn landscape for both residents and visitors.
The flower fields of Homigot Peninsula have already become a popular photography spot thanks to their unique coastal terrain. To coincide with this blooming season, the city plans to offer a variety of events, such as small-scale pop-up stores and food festivals featuring scenic agriculture-themed merchandise and food, providing visitors with a rich array of experiences.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok emphasized, "Scenic agriculture is an important project that links local agriculture with tourism," and added, "I hope many citizens visit Homigot Peninsula to experience healing and relaxation in nature."
The Homigot Scenic Agriculture Complex is attracting attention as a tourism-agriculture convergence model that goes beyond simple scenery by utilizing the seasonal growth cycles of crops. The city plans to continue revitalizing the local economy in a sustainable way by introducing a variety of crop species and content in the future.
