Detailed Cause Under Investigation
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Gori Nuclear Headquarters (Director: Lee Sangwook) announced that the turbine generator at Shin-Gori Unit 1 (pressurized water reactor, 1 million kW capacity) automatically shut down at around 3:46 a.m. on August 21 due to a malfunction in its exciter, an auxiliary device.
The detailed cause is currently under investigation, and the power plant is maintaining a stable condition.
The exciter is an auxiliary device for the turbine generator that supplies direct current electricity, enabling the generator to produce power.
