On August 21, President Lee wrote on Facebook under the title, "The Tomorrow You So Earnestly Hoped For Has Come to Us Today," saying, "It has already been six years since the late journalist Lee Yongma left us. And today, the Broadcasting Culture Promotion Foundation Act, which was both his earnest dream and a task of the times, is finally scheduled to be passed at the National Assembly's plenary session."

President Lee recalled, "In 2012, during the MBC strike where a fierce struggle unfolded to protect press freedom, he was always at the forefront, standing up against unjust power. Even as he suffered the ordeal of dismissal and became physically and mentally exhausted, he never gave in or bowed his head, and never stopped striving to reveal the truth."

He added, "Even while battling illness, he never gave up his mission as a journalist. Through podcasts, he worked tirelessly until the end to deliver the truth to the public and to leave a message that public broadcasting must be independent from political power."

President Lee continued, "With the passage of the Broadcasting Culture Promotion Foundation Act today, a legal foundation is established to guarantee the independence of public broadcasting and the public's right to know. This is the first step toward the fair and transparent media environment that journalist Lee Yongma dreamed of throughout his life. I am proud to say that we have come this far thanks to his dedication and passion."

Quoting journalist Lee Yongma's words, "The world can be changed," President Lee said, "No matter what difficulties we face, I reaffirm my determination not to give up and to create a better world. I will boldly and resolutely walk the path of justice and truth that he paved for us."
