A nationwide simultaneous "Fire Truck Path Clearing Drill" will be conducted on August 20, starting at 2:00 p.m. for 20 minutes, in conjunction with a civil defense air raid drill, to secure the golden time at disaster sites such as fires and medical emergencies.
On this day, a total of 23 vehicles-including command cars, pump trucks, and ambulances-from the five fire stations in Daejeon will participate. The drill will take place simultaneously on one section of road in each district, including frequently congested roads such as Gyeryong-ro and Gyebaek-ro.
When the civil defense air raid warning is issued, each fire station will drive along the actual drill route and provide on-site guidance to citizens regarding cooperation measures.
The Daejeon Fire Headquarters urged citizens to learn and practice the following "path clearing" guidelines: ▲ At intersections: move to the far right edge of the road and stop temporarily ▲ On one-way streets: stop temporarily at the right edge ▲ On single-lane roads: yield or stop temporarily at the right edge ▲ On two-lane roads: yield so that emergency vehicles can use the first lane ▲ On roads with three or more lanes: yield so that emergency vehicles can use the second lane.
Kim Moon-yong, Chief of Daejeon Fire Headquarters, stated, "Securing the golden time at disaster sites is difficult without the active cooperation of citizens," and added, "I hope this drill will serve as an opportunity for the culture of 'fire truck path clearing' to become a natural part of daily life."
