The Ulchi Exercise, which will be conducted nationwide from August 18 to 21 over four days, is a government-led drill designed to respond to national emergencies. Its primary goal is to comprehensively assess national crisis management and response capabilities, and it is carried out simultaneously across the country.

This year's Ulchi Exercise is structured around scenarios that simulate actual wartime conditions, including the organization of wartime command structures, evacuation and relocation drills for administrative agencies, and discussions on addressing wartime issues.

In particular, on the 19th, a simulated discussion and response drill will be held based on a scenario in which a passenger aircraft makes an emergency landing due to a drone attack. On the 20th at 2 p.m., a nationwide civil defense drill will be conducted to prepare the public for air raids.

The civil defense drill will feature citizen participation, including resident evacuation drills, emergency vehicle passage training, and large-scale facility evacuation exercises at Buk Pohang CGV.

Jang Sanggil, Vice Mayor of Pohang City, stated, "In the midst of a changing security environment, we will ensure that everyone is well-versed in their duties and that the training is conducted as realistically as possible." He added, "By building on the experience gained from the Ulchi Exercise, we will strengthen cooperation between the civil sector, government, and military, thoroughly review and improve issues within each institution and department, and enhance our practical response capabilities to ensure the safety of our citizens through genuine preparedness."
