An arrest warrant has been requested for a man who set fire to a multi-family residence in Jegi-dong, Dongdaemun District, Seoul, resulting in 15 casualties.

The Seoul Dongdaemun Police Station announced on August 16 that it had applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who was apprehended on charges of arson resulting in death or injury to an inhabited building.

Mr. A is accused of setting fire to the parking lot of a four-story multi-family residence in Jegi-dong at approximately 11:52 p.m. on August 12. The fire resulted in one fatality and 14 injuries.

The fire is believed to have started in a cart loaded with waste paper, and spread rapidly due to the piloti structure of the parking lot.
