KOSPI Opens Higher, Fluctuates Around 3,200... KOSDAQ Also Flat

On August 14, the domestic stock market showed a slightly stronger trend in early trading.

As of 9:25 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI was trading at 3,229.96, up 5.59 points (0.17%) from the previous day. The index opened at 3,226.52, up 2.15 points (0.07%) from the previous session.

While individual investors made a net sale of 93.9 billion won, foreign investors and institutions purchased 51.0 billion won and 32.5 billion won, respectively.

The top market cap stocks were somewhat mixed. LG Energy Solution (2.31%), NAVER (1.56%), Shinhan Financial Group (1.30%), Hyundai Motor (0.93%), and Kia (0.87%) were on the rise, while Doosan Enerbility (-2.11%), SK Hynix (-0.90%), Hanwha Ocean (-0.85%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (-0.43%), and Samsung Electronics (-0.42%) were declining.

At the same time, the KOSDAQ was trading at 816.52, up 2.42 points (0.30%) from the previous day. The index opened at 814.48, up 0.38 points (0.05%).

While individual investors made a net purchase of 73.9 billion won, foreign investors and institutions sold 42.5 billion won and 20.4 billion won, respectively.

Most of the top market cap stocks on the KOSDAQ were strong. ABL Bio (7.97%), PharmaResearch (3.46%), SM (2.37%), EcoPro BM (1.61%), EcoPro (1.57%), and LIG Chem Bio (1.54%) were rising, while Peptron (-2.29%) and Alteogen (-2.12%) were weak.

By sector, electrical products (+2.64%), internet retail (+2.52%), transportation·logistics (+2.19%), publishing (+1.89%), and securities (+1.70%) were strong, while display panels (-7.06%), office electronics (-2.97%), shipping companies (-1.98%), and electrical equipment (-1.88%) were declining.

In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate started trading at 1,378.5 won, down 3.2 won from the previous day.
