Celebrating its 54th edition this year, the Seoul Urban Architecture Biennale is an international urban architecture event that began in 2017 and is held every two years. This year, world-renowned British designer Thomas Heatherwick serves as the general director under the theme "Charming Cities, Architecture for People." The event will take place for 54 days in the Open Songhyeon Green Plaza and around the Seoul Urban Architecture Exhibition Hall.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction will install sculptures and pop-up booths at major hubs between the main venues, Open Songhyeon Green Plaza and the Seoul Urban Architecture Exhibition Hall, so that citizens can easily and enjoyably engage with the event. The pop-up booths will serve as key points for providing event information and encouraging participation in various activities.

Thomas Heatherwick's circular spinning chair, the "Spun Chair," will be placed at the venues, offering citizens an opportunity to experience innovative design firsthand. Made with an organic form and flexible materials, this chair provides comfort and a novel spatial experience, allowing people to naturally sense the impact of architecture and design on daily life.

To guide visitors, pink circular floor decals will be installed every three meters from Gwanghwamun Square to Songhyeon-dong. These decals will feature the Seoul Biennale logo and the locations of major event venues in intuitive, minimal graphics, clearly marking the main pathways.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction is leading landmark projects in Seoul and other major cities, contributing to sustainable urban development through advanced technology and eco-friendly design. By participating in this year's Seoul Biennale, the company is actively promoting the spread of architectural culture in collaboration with citizens.

Changsoo Lim, Director of Future Space Planning at Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, "Through this collaboration, we hope that the main event spaces of the Seoul Biennale will become more accessible and welcoming to citizens." He added, "By working with the private sector, we will continue to realize people-centered urban architecture that citizens can experience and relate to firsthand."
