An unbelievable account has emerged, claiming that mushrooms grew on the ceiling of a room in a well-known hotel located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

On the 12th, an anonymous post titled "Mushrooms Grew in the XXXXX Yeoksam Room" was uploaded to the workplace community Blind, accompanied by a photo. The photo showed mushroom stems and caps growing from the ceiling near what appeared to be the bathroom entrance next to the door, with visible yellow stains suggesting water leakage.

The poster wrote, "My family stayed at this hotel for a day because we had business nearby, but the room's condition was worse than a cheap inn. Is XX Hotel planning to go out of business? How neglected does a room have to be for mushrooms to grow on the ceiling?" expressing anger.

The post continued, "One side looked like it had been there so long it was shriveled up. While staying in the room, I started feeling worse and worse, and while drinking water I noticed the mushrooms on the ceiling. Where should I file a complaint? I reported it to the lobby that day and got a different room, but if anyone from the hotel sees this, please check it out."

This hotel is a business hotel brand launched by a parent company. Since its launch in 2013, it has operated 15 locations nationwide and is known for its strong reputation and affordable prices, making it popular among travelers.

Online users responded with sarcasm, saying things like "Congratulations on winning the mushroom prize," and "It's an eco-friendly accommodation. Looks cozy and nice."

A representative from the hotel told Korea Economic Daily in an interview, "The room had been blocked from assignment for a while for maintenance, but was mistakenly assigned to a guest. We have sincerely apologized to the customer."
