Lotte Insurance Accelerates N-Jobber Planner Recruitment... "Aiming for 20,000 by Next Year"

All Steps to Planner Appointment Managed 100% Independently Through the App
AI-Assisted Design and Subscription Support... Even Covers Offline Training

Lotte Insurance's 'Wonder' platform, the first of its kind in the industry, is making waves in the insurance sector. Wonder is a platform that helps anyone prepare for the insurance planner qualification exam and supports all sales processes, from insurance service design and sales to subscription. This strategy aims to foster so-called 'N-jobbers'-individuals who have more than one job and work as insurance planners as a side job. The proportion of N-jobber planners among all planners has more than doubled in just half a year, demonstrating rapid growth.

According to Lotte Insurance on August 13, as of last month, 63.7% (4,046 out of 6,353) of all planners were N-jobber planners. This is more than double the share at the end of last year, when N-jobber planners accounted for 27.5% (1,224 out of 4,443). In December 2023, Lotte Insurance launched Wonder, the industry's first platform that enables users to complete the entire insurance sales process on mobile. In just a year and a half since its launch, the number of N-jobber planners has surpassed 4,000, with 2,822 added this year alone. Compared to the end of last year, the number of N-jobber planners has more than tripled this year.

Following the launch of the Lotte Insurance application (app), other insurers also introduced platforms to recruit N-jobber planners. However, Lotte Insurance's Wonder stands out as the first and only platform that allows the entire insurance sales process to be conducted via a mobile app.

According to Lotte Insurance, Wonder users can independently complete every step up to official appointment as a planner directly within the dedicated app. This includes membership registration, applying for the general insurance qualification exam, taking mock exams, watching lectures, sitting for the exam, completing mandatory training at the Insurance Training Institute after passing, and electronic appointment-all without manager oversight. Traditionally, the insurance industry relied on dedicated managers to oversee every step of the appointment process for planners, including sending internet links (URLs) for each stage.

Even after appointment, planners are systematically managed to minimize attrition and maximize appointment rates. Potential planners who join via Wonder can operate autonomously from appointment to product sales, while receiving support from dedicated appointment support staff and insurance specialist managers if needed. The appointment support staff provide exam tips, while insurance specialist managers offer know-how on generating income after appointment and provide planner training.

To enable potential planners to handle design and subscription on their own, an AI-powered design assistance feature is provided. In the second half of this year, the company plans to develop AI work support services to further minimize certain remote support tasks.

The number of Wonder members increased by 64.3%, from about 28,000 at the end of last year to about 46,000 at the end of the second quarter this year. This growth is attributed to improvements in customer-centric user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), such as displaying detailed examples of how planners earn income on the main screen after appointment.

As of the end of last month, Lotte Insurance has set a goal to increase the number of N-jobber planners from 4,046 to 10,000 by the end of this year and 20,000 by next year. The ultimate goal is to achieve 'one Wonder per household' nationwide. The vision is to create a world where at least one family member is appointed as a planner through Wonder and manages the health of the entire family.

A Lotte Insurance representative said, "Unlike other N-jobber platforms, where a dedicated manager is present to support app users until they become N-jobber planners, Lotte Insurance Wonder differentiates itself by creating an environment where users can manage the entire appointment process on their own. Wonder not only enables anyone to become a planner, but also attracts professionals from diverse fields, diversifying the workforce and expanding the foundation of the N-jobber planner platform market."

On August 11, Lotte Insurance partnered with the wedding platform 'Yojeum Wedding' to help engaged and newlywed couples, as well as wedding industry professionals, acquire insurance planner qualifications and provide financial planning. In addition, to increase the number of N-jobber planners, Lotte Insurance has formed partnerships with AI tech company Crowdworks, speech training institute Bomon Academy, and telemedicine platform Namaneui Doctor.
