The leadership of Dong-A University College of Medicine announced on August 12 that they held a meeting at 5 p.m. on August 11 with representatives from each year and class of the pre-medical and medical programs to explain the educational plans and schedules for the resumption of classes.
Dong-A University College of Medicine will begin with an orientation on August 18. The medical program will fully resume classes starting August 25, while the pre-medical program will begin on September 1. The pre-medical students are scheduled to complete both the second semester and the seasonal semester this year, while medical students are expected to complete the entire curriculum over a year and a half without breaks, starting from the second semester of this year. In particular, fourth-year medical students will participate in clinical practice with the goal of graduating in August 2026.
During the meeting, seven student representatives from each year of the medical school delivered a message titled "To President Lee Haewoo and the Faculty and Staff of Dong-A University," stating, "Over the past year and a half, students had to leave school amid deep concerns and uncertainty about the future," and added, "This caused burdens on school operations and academic preparations, and there were regrets regarding trust and communication with professors."
Kim Jongguk, Dean of Dong-A University College of Medicine, said, "I would like to thank the government, the medical association, the president, the faculty, and all members who supported us for giving the returning medical students this opportunity." He continued, "I hope parents and citizens will trust and watch over the returning students," adding, "We will continue to provide full support so that students can grow into valuable medical resources for the local community."
