On August 12, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held a meeting at the Hwaseong YBM Training Center to discuss the pilot operation of the "Gyeonggi International Baccalaureate (IB) Shared School" and checked the preparation status for experiential educational activities.
The Gyeonggi International Baccalaureate (IB) Shared School is a program that offers students who do not attend an "IB World School" the opportunity to experience "IB education." The program is primarily conducted through concept-based and inquiry-centered classes.
This pilot operation involves 18 local education support offices in the province, and 32 educational activities for elementary, middle, and high school students will be held on weekends and after school, with each activity running for at least 12 sessions (10 hours) or more. Classes will be taught by World School teachers and teachers certified as "IB Educators (IBEC)."
In July, the provincial office of education formed a special task force (TF) of 103 members for the "Gyeonggi International Baccalaureate Shared School" and determined the direction for program design.

In particular, the meeting emphasized student-tailored inquiry activities to ensure students have a genuine "IB education" experience.
The provincial office of education plans to complete the development of teaching and learning materials by the end of August, and will conduct the pilot operation of the "Gyeonggi International Baccalaureate Shared School" from September to November.
After evaluating the results of the operation in December, the office plans to expand the program during the winter break in January next year, and to establish a regular operation system starting in March of the same year.
An official from the provincial office of education stated, "Through the 'Gyeonggi International Baccalaureate Shared School,' we plan to actively support the provision of 'IB education' experiences to all students and to establish it as an experiential education model that fosters initiative and inquiry skills."
