Yeongyang County Begins Full-Scale Purchase of 2025 Red Chili Peppers

Yeongyang Chili Pepper Distribution Corporation will purchase 5,000 tons of red chili peppers from August 11 to September 20 from 1,089 farms that signed purchase agreements in May.

The purchase price is set at 2,400 KRW per kilogram for premium grade and 2,300 KRW per kilogram for first grade, with an additional incentive of 300 KRW per kilogram provided on top of these rates.

This year as well, the red chili pepper purchase program is expected to significantly help farmers reduce production costs and labor. The purchased peppers will be sorted and processed before being supplied to both domestic and international markets, which is anticipated to further enhance the quality reputation and consumer trust in Yeongyang chili peppers.

County Governor Oh Dochang stated, "We will continue to provide unwavering support so that chili pepper farmers, who are struggling due to abnormal weather conditions, can focus solely on farming without worrying about market access."
