Man in His 50s Indicted for Raping and Impregnating His Own Daughter

A man in his 50s has been arrested and indicted for raping his own daughter and causing her to become pregnant.

On August 11, the Criminal Division of the Yeoju Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (headed by Chief Prosecutor Jung Wooseok) announced that it had arrested and indicted Mr. A on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (rape by a relative).

Mr. A is accused of raping his biological daughter, Ms. B, on two occasions?in July 2021 and again in March of this year?at their residence and other locations. It has been determined that Ms. B was a minor at the time of the 2021 incident. Ms. B reportedly told medical staff at a hospital, where she had gone for a pregnancy test, that she had been victimized by her father. The hospital then notified the police after hearing her account.

Mr. A is said to have confessed to the crimes during the investigation.
