According to data released on August 11 by NHN Payco, which analyzed first-half Campus Zone transaction data, the universities with the most active transactions were Seoul National University, Kyung Hee University, and Yonsei University, in that order. They were followed by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Sungkyunkwan University, Inha University, Korea University of Technology and Education, Korea University, Hanyang University, and Ewha Womans University. The analysis was based on approximately 3 million transactions from 240 universities nationwide that have installed the NHN Payco payment service Campus Zone.

NHN Payco offers universities campus-specific features such as mobile dormitory meal tickets, commuter bus tickets, and 1,000-won breakfast reservations, along with various discounts and rewards benefits. The cumulative number of Campus Zone verified users has surpassed 480,000.

In the first half of the year, the total transaction amount at the top Campus Zone universities increased by 17% compared to the previous semester. Payments for meal tickets and bus tickets also rose by 31% and 49%, respectively. Among weekdays, Wednesday saw the highest transaction volume, while Friday recorded the lowest.

Users who joined through Payco Campus were found to actively use general services such as 'Payco Coupons,' which provide various brand discounts and rewards, in addition to campus-specific features. At the top 10 universities by coupon usage, an average benefit of 5,115 won in discounts or rewards was provided per transaction.

Certain consumption patterns unique to exam periods were also observed. During these times, cafe transactions increased by more than 17% compared to normal periods. This is interpreted as reflecting demand from 'Kagongjok'?students who study in cafes or seek to boost concentration through caffeine intake.

During the same period, morning transactions (from 4:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) at McDonald's within Campus Zones increased by nearly 20% compared to usual. This confirmed the 'McMorning Challenge' consumption pattern, where students seek McMorning meals for breakfast after staying up all night studying.

During university festival periods, late-night transactions (from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. the following day) increased by about 30% compared to normal periods. This appears to be due to the active nighttime activities characteristic of campus festivals, which feature ongoing events and performances.

The brands preferred by Payco Campus verified users included affordable coffee franchises that are convenient for takeout, such as MegaMGC Coffee, Mammoth Coffee, Paikdabang, and Compose Coffee, as well as value-focused fast food brands like Mom's Touch and KFC. Convenience stores such as Asung Daiso, Seven Eleven, Emart24, and KORAIL Distribution (Storyway) also accounted for a significant share of usage.

An NHN Payco representative stated, "We will continue to enhance campus-customized services that reflect Generation Z consumer trends."
