'Explosives' Threat Fax Sent to Olympic Gymnastics Arena... Search Underway (Comprehensive)

The police are currently conducting a search after receiving a report that an explosive device had been planted at the KSPO Dome, located in Olympic Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul.


According to the Songpa Police Station on August 10, at approximately 1:45 p.m. that day, Korea Sports Industry Development, which manages the Olympic KSPO Dome, received a fax stating that an explosive device had been installed at the KSPO Dome and reported it to the police.


The police were dispatched to the scene, evacuated the audience, and deployed the mobile patrol unit and the police special forces to search for explosives. A police official stated, "No explosives have been found at the scene so far."


Meanwhile, Onehundred, the agency of the group 'The Boyz,' who were scheduled to perform at the KSPO Dome at 4 p.m. that day, announced to the audience, "The start of the performance will inevitably be delayed due to an inspection of the venue's facilities."


If someone threatens to harm an unspecified large number of people, they may be subject to up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won under the crime of public intimidation.
