This contest project aims to improve living infrastructure and residential conditions by reflecting the actual needs of local residents, and is expected to significantly contribute to regional development and the improvement of residents' quality of life.
Goheung County will construct a three-story, four-level parking tower (166 spaces) on a 2,380 square meter site near Nokdong Port through the "Doyangae Parking & Hyu Parking Tower Construction Project." The total project cost is 5 billion KRW, with 2.5 billion KRW coming from national funds.
Nokdong Port is a marine tourism attraction visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year thanks to drone shows, the Sea Fireworks Festival, and the revitalization of the live fish center. However, both residents and tourists have been inconvenienced by the lack of parking spaces. This project is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local commercial district, improving the traffic environment, and enhancing convenience for tourists.
The "Wolya-myeon Bitgreen-ro Living Environment Infrastructure Construction Project" in Hampyeong County will expand a 0.5 km section of the main access road to the Hampyeong Bitgreen Industrial Complex, from the Wolya-myeon town center to the entrance of the complex, from two lanes to four lanes. A total of 3.3 billion KRW will be invested, including 2.5 billion KRW in national funds.
The Bitgreen Industrial Complex is a strategic hub in Jeonnam that is actively attracting industries such as automotive parts and electric vehicle batteries. Improving accessibility between the nearby Wolya-myeon town center and the industrial complex is expected to significantly boost both the region and the industrial complex.
The "Okgwahyeon Everyone's Gaeksa Project" in Gokseong County is a street regeneration project centered on the main road of Okgwa-myeon, which will create an open plaza, nighttime landscape, historical and cultural photo zones, and operate cultural and tourism programs. The project will receive 800 million KRW in funding, including 700 million KRW in national funds.
Okgwa-myeon is an old downtown area suffering from declining foot traffic and a stagnant commercial district. Through this project, the area will be newly developed as a street that incorporates cultural, artistic, and nighttime landscape elements. By attracting tourists through local festivals and drawing in young people such as students from Jeonnam Science University, the project is expected to increase sales for small businesses and revitalize the local economy.
Previously, in the first half of this year, Jeonnam Province also secured 13 billion KRW (5 billion KRW in national funds) when Wando County's "Healing Art Island Creation Project" was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public-private win-win investment agreement contest. In addition, for the "Regional Vitality Town Creation" contest, Gangjin County's "Soopsokpumae Village Creation Project" (23.1 billion KRW, 13.2 billion KRW in national funds) and Yeongam County's "Olyeong Vibrant Young Town Creation Project" (18.4 billion KRW, 9.5 billion KRW in national funds) were also finally selected, marking the largest number of contest selections nationwide for two consecutive years.
Kim Yung-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, stated, "The valuable results achieved in this year's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport contests were possible because the province and cities and counties worked together to identify local issues and closely cooperated with central government agencies."
