On August 7, Laon People announced that it will establish an on-device artificial intelligence (AI) monitoring system in Thailand based on a domestically developed NPU (Neural Processing Unit).
Laon People will supply disaster, safety, and security monitoring systems utilizing domestically developed NPU-based edge on-device AI technology to global markets including Thailand, through securing overseas proof-of-concept projects. The company will implement AI-powered smart monitoring by utilizing AI multi-modal fusion detection in areas such as smuggling, security, disaster, traffic, and safety.
This project will be carried out as part of a consortium with Mobilint, a company specializing in AI semiconductors. Laon People aims to enhance inference performance by combining domestically developed NPUs with generative AI, thereby enabling immediate detection and real-time response in the event of disasters or crimes. By utilizing ultra-low-power, high-performance AI semiconductors, the company expects to reduce network usage and maintenance costs, providing solutions optimized for local infrastructure and thereby increasing operational efficiency.
Thailand, which has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Laon People and is pursuing various projects, is expanding AI-related initiatives in construction and infrastructure as part of a nationwide smart city project. By integrating Korean-style AI monitoring technology, Laon People plans to not only strengthen safety infrastructure and lead smart city development for provincial governments in Thailand, but also expand global business opportunities by supplying domestically developed AI semiconductors and solutions.
In relation to this, a representative from Laon People stated, "We have enhanced our AI technology and competitiveness and established a foundation for global business expansion through the convergence of domestically developed AI semiconductors and generative AI technology." The representative added, "By providing optimized solutions, we will continue to expand the application of on-device AI monitoring systems integrated with generative AI into various fields, including traffic, environment, industrial safety, and smart cities."
