On July 29, 2025, the Busan Institute of Science and Technology for Higher Education Promotion (President Kim Youngbu, BISTEP) held the '5th R&D Planning Capacity Building Seminar' in the main conference room of its headquarters. Experts and researchers gathered to discuss 'Technology Trends and R&D Strategies in the Blue Food Tech Sector.'

원본보기 아이콘Blue Food Tech refers to a concept that creates new value, such as addressing the food crisis and promoting eco-friendly production, by integrating new technologies into traditional seafood products.
With changing consumer awareness regarding health and the environment, demand for Blue Food Tech is expected to grow in Korea as well.
This seminar went beyond a simple lecture format, facilitating discussions between speakers and participants on technology, policy, and industry trends, as well as Busan City's strategies, all from the perspective of R&D planning. More than 40 participants?including local business representatives, university and research institute researchers, R&D project managers, and Busan City officials?attended, demonstrating strong interest.
Kim Youngbu, President of BISTEP, said, "I was deeply impressed by the high level of interest and enthusiastic participation from local R&D planning stakeholders in the Blue Food Tech sector. We will do our utmost to ensure that the monthly seminars, which will continue through the end of the year, help strengthen the expertise of researchers."
The 'Busan R&D Planning Capacity Building Seminar' is held monthly, focusing on specific technology or policy areas, and is open to all local researchers and project managers. BISTEP plans to continue developing a variety of programs aimed at strengthening regional R&D planning capacity and contributing to the activation of the R&D innovation ecosystem.
