The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is conducting on-site asbestos inspections during the summer vacation to ensure a safe educational environment free from asbestos.
On August 6, the Office announced that it has formed an internal inspection team to carry out on-site inspections at schools undergoing asbestos dismantling and removal during the summer vacation period.
This year, a total of 15 schools in the province are carrying out asbestos dismantling and removal work during the summer vacation, including 8 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 4 high schools.
Earlier on the same day, Hangunsu, Administrative Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, visited Guseong Elementary School in Yongin, where he and the internal inspection team checked compliance with relevant laws and guidelines using an on-site inspection checklist.

원본보기 아이콘The main inspection items on this day included: confirmation of whether furniture had been moved and preliminary cleaning had been conducted; verification of plastic sheeting, operation of negative pressure machines, provision of protective gear for workers, and the condition of waste storage; and confirmation of whether asbestos residue inspections had been conducted, as well as the appropriateness of asbestos concentration and airborne dispersal measurements.
An official from the Office stated, "We plan to continue providing on-site guidance and inspections to ensure that asbestos dismantling and removal work at schools is carried out safely," adding, "We will make even greater efforts to create a safe educational environment for students and staff."
