Gyeonggi Province's Pocheon City (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced on August 5 that it held the 'Final Report Meeting on the Research Project for Establishing the Pocheon City Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) Strategy' in the city hall's administrative meeting room on August 4.
This research project was launched after the establishment of the 'Next-Generation Advanced Mobility Research Institute Promotion Team' in December last year, with the aim of developing strategies and an action plan (roadmap) to foster the city's next-generation advanced mobility industry.
The research project included policy and institutional analysis, investigation of technological trends and industry status, strategy development, and analysis of ripple effects. It also presented an action plan (roadmap) that includes Pocheon City's specialized outlook and goals, implementation measures, and key tasks. A step-by-step plan for establishing a national research institution was included, which will serve as a foundation for Pocheon City to become a hub of the future mobility industry.
Pocheon City is creating a hub city for fostering the advanced mobility industry based on public-private-military cooperation. To this end, the city plans to link the government's 'Localization of Core Components for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones)' project and Gyeonggi Province's 'Unmanned Mobility Industry Reboot Strategy' to achieve tangible industrial outcomes.
Mayor Baek Younghyeon stated, "This strategy is a plan that matches Pocheon City's regional characteristics and future development direction," and added, "Based on differentiated strategies and action plans, we will do our best to help Pocheon City grow into a national-level research and development hub city."
The city plans to review the suggestions made at the report meeting, reflect them in the final report, and actively promote related projects according to the established action plan.
