[Market Highlight] Hancom Rises on Joining National Representative AI Elite Team

Hancom is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by the news that the company has been included in the elite team participating in the government-announced "National Representative AI" project.

As of 2:46 p.m. on August 4, Hancom was trading at 26,700 won, up 2.3% from the previous day.

On this day, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it had finalized the selection of five elite teams for the "Independent AI Foundation Model" project through a document review and presentation evaluation. The elite teams that will lead the first phase of development this year are Naver Cloud, Upstage, SK Telecom, NC AI, and LG AI Research Institute.

The consortium that Hancom is part of is the LG AI Research Institute. The LG AI Research Institute consortium plans to develop a high-performance AI foundation model that possesses both expertise and versatility, and to create a "full-stack AI industry ecosystem" that is easily accessible to everyone.

Meanwhile, starting in September, the government plans to jointly purchase and process data worth 10 billion won and provide it to each team. In addition, each team will receive an additional 2.8 billion won to build and process data sets specialized for independent AI model development, and 20 billion won worth of high-quality broadcast video training data will also be provided. In terms of GPUs (graphics processing units), the Upstage, NC AI, and LG AI Research Institute teams will receive either 512 B200 units or 1,024 H100 units this year.
