Enjoy the Taste of Baekcance... Shinsegae Centum City Kicks Off Busan Food Festa

"How about escaping the heat with a 'baekcance' full of food?"

Shinsegae Centum City is launching the 'Busan Food Festa,' where visitors can enjoy a variety of foods indoors in response to the summer baekcance demand.

Centum City announced on the 1st that from August 1 to 17, it will hold a food event at the B1 Event Hall, featuring local bakeries and dessert brands. This is the first time the space, which has previously focused on fashion exhibitions, is being opened for the F&B genre.

A total of around 20 brands are participating in this event. Popular dessert shops from Busan are gathering in one place, with signature items such as Beside Bagel's "Garlic Bacon Egg Bagel," Ovia's "Pasta Ice Cream," and Baked Today's cakes. There is a wide variety of snacks available, from unique menu items like fried pasta topped with ice cream to tteokbokki, dakgangjeong, and Udodangpeanut Hotteok.

In the center of the venue, table seating for 70 people has been installed so that customers can enjoy their purchased food on the spot. The department store has also added visual enjoyment with blue designs reminiscent of summer waves and photo zones.

As baekcance, where people flock to department stores to escape the heat, gains popularity, Shinsegae Centum City's food hall dessert sales from July 20 to 31 increased by 15% compared to the previous year. Given that 60% of summer customers are from outside the region, this event is seen as a strategy reflecting tourist demand.

At the basement food event hall, the "Iyeolchiyeol Festival" and a pop-up by star chef Jung Jiseon's dim sum brand "Linbao" will also be held. Themed food pop-ups, organized by schedule, will be presented sequentially.

A representative from Shinsegae Centum City stated, "We have planned a variety of food content targeting indoor baekcance during the intense heat," and emphasized, "We will actively showcase seasonal themes by leveraging our location connected to Haeundae."
