KOSPI Moderately Firm in Midday Trading on Institutional and Foreign Net Buying

The KOSPI is showing a moderately strong upward trend during the session, supported by net buying from institutions and foreign investors.


As of 10:23 a.m. on July 30, the KOSPI is trading at 3,241.93, up 0.35% from the previous day.


By investor type, institutions and foreign investors have net bought 45.4 billion won and 109.6 billion won, respectively, while individual investors have net sold 178.6 billion won. In the futures market, institutions have net sold 137 billion won, while foreign investors and individuals have net bought 30 billion won and 112.8 billion won, respectively.


By sector, performance is mixed. The non-metal sector is up 3.31%, electronics 0.8%, telecommunications 0.82%, paper and wood 0.44%, retail 0.53%, transportation equipment 0.37%, manufacturing 0.42%, and transportation and storage 0.38%. In contrast, entertainment and culture is down 2.29%, construction is down 1.22%, securities down 1.14%, utilities down 1.01%, and machinery and equipment down 0.59%.


Among large-cap stocks, more are rising than falling. Samsung Electronics is up 1.7%, Hyundai Motor 1.83%, Kia 2.46%, KB Financial Group 0.99%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries 0.11%, Celltrion 0.06%, and NAVER 1.29%. On the other hand, LG Energy Solution is down 1.4%, Hanwha Aerospace down 2.91%, and Doosan Enerbility down 1.69%. SK Hynix and Samsung Biologics are flat.


The KOSDAQ index is also in moderately strong territory. At the same time, the KOSDAQ is trading at 807.07, up 0.33% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreign investors have net sold 4.1 billion won and 3 billion won, respectively, while individual investors have net bought 11.7 billion won.


Among large-cap KOSDAQ stocks, performance is mixed. Alteogen is up 0.77%, Ecopro BM 2.64%, Ecopro 1.2%, Rainbow Robotics 2.23%, Hugel 0.6%, LIG Nex1 1.07%, and Silicon Two 1.62%. In contrast, Peptron is down 1.51%, HLB down 1.22%, Pharmaresearch down 1.23%, Samchundang Pharm down 4.11%, Rigachem Bio down 0.47%, and ABL Bio down 1.67%.


Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate is trading at 1,383.9 won, down 5.8 won from the previous day.
