A fire broke out at the underground substation of HD Hyundai Samho (Samho Heavy Industries) located within the Daebul National Industrial Complex in Yeongam County, South Jeolla Province.

According to the South Jeolla Fire Department on July 29, a report was received at approximately 11:22 p.m. the previous day regarding a fire at the underground substation of HD Hyundai Samho, located in the Daebul National Industrial Complex, Samho-eup, Yeongam County, South Jeolla Province.

The fire authorities urgently deployed 22 heavy vehicles, including fire trucks, and 62 firefighters to carry out firefighting operations. However, it is reported that the blaze has not yet been brought under control.

In the early stages of the fire, Samho Heavy Industries attempted to extinguish the flames internally, but the fire spread rapidly.

The location where the fire broke out has been identified as a production infrastructure facility that supplies electricity, water, and other utilities to HD Hyundai Samho.

Due to the fire, the supply of electricity and other utilities throughout the shipyard has been completely halted.

Even after the fire is extinguished, it is expected that a full recovery will take several months, as investigations into the cause of the fire, site cleanup, and facility reconstruction will be required.

As of now, no casualties have been reported.

The fire authorities and HD Hyundai Samho plan to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage once the blaze is brought under control.
