Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) is drawing attention for its ongoing efforts to foster practical talent and promote social contribution activities in partnership with the global automotive parts company Tyco AMP Co., Ltd. (hereafter TE).
Since signing the 'TE Community Ambassador Program (CAP)' agreement in 2022, Yeungnam University and TE have jointly operated a variety of industry-academia cooperation programs, receiving a total of $112,000 in support to date. 원본보기 아이콘TE CAP is a social contribution program implemented by the Korean branch of the global components company TE (CEO Lee Seungcheol). The program not only contributes to the advancement of education and technology in the local community, but also has a positive impact on discovering outstanding talent and enhancing the company's image. Through this program, Yeungnam University is strengthening students' practical capabilities and contributing to solving regional industrial challenges, thereby establishing a model case of university-industry co-growth.
Specifically, five main programs are being actively promoted: a capstone design competition, industry problem-solving projects, undergraduate research funding, technical lectures to enhance automotive expertise, and scholarships for students. In particular, the 'TE Industry Problem-Solving' project addresses real-world issues such as terminal cost optimization design and connector EMC optimal design. Undergraduate students and professors participate together to develop technical solutions, establishing this initiative as a leading model of industry-academia cooperation.
Meanwhile, on July 22, 2025, as part of the TE CAP program, the 'TE Scholarship Award Ceremony' was held at Yeungnam University. Eight outstanding students, recommended by six departments from the College of Digital Convergence and the College of Engineering, were selected as scholarship recipients and each received a scholarship of 1 million KRW. After the ceremony, students had the opportunity to share their career concerns and receive practical advice from the TE research director and HR head during a roundtable discussion.
Lee Chansu, head of the Department of Electronic Engineering at Yeungnam University, stated, "Thanks to the continuous interest and support of Tyco AMP, a global automotive parts company in the region, we have been able to provide students with valuable opportunities to grow into future core talent." He emphasized, "The TE CAP program goes beyond simple financial support by offering students practical experience and helping them clarify their career paths through collaboration with companies, making it a highly meaningful case of industry-academia cooperation."
He added, "Going forward, we will further strengthen industry-academia cooperation with TE and local industries to nurture creative talent closely aligned with industry needs and build a foundation for mutual growth between the university and local companies."
