NBC, which broadcast The Open in the United States, announced on July 23 (local time) that 4.1 million households watched the final round of The Open. The average viewership for rounds 1 through 4 was 3.6 million households, a 24% increase from last year. Between 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Eastern Time, 6.1 million households tuned in to their TVs. British sports commentator Mark Harris remarked, "The match itself was extremely dull, but fans enjoyed watching the play of a great athlete who displayed the most dominant performance since Tiger Woods."

On July 20, at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Portrush, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, Scheffler secured a commanding victory by four strokes at The Open, the final major tournament of the season. Following his wins at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson in May, the PGA Championship (a major), and the Memorial Tournament in June, this marked his fourth PGA Tour win of the season and the 17th of his career, including four major titles.
