On July 8, Changwon Special City held a meeting inviting provincial assembly members to share key municipal issues and strengthen cooperation, including securing provincial funding.

The meeting was attended by 16 provincial assembly members from the Changwon area, including Jeong Kyuhun, Chair of the Council Operations Committee, and Baek Taehyun, Chair of the Planning and Administration Committee. They engaged in in-depth discussions on core strategies and major proposals for municipal administration in the latter half of 2025.


The city requested the active support of the provincial assembly members for major proposals. For national policy cooperation, the city presented 12 projects, including the construction of the Dongdaegu?Changwon?Gadeokdo New Airport high-speed railway, the creation of Changwon's Second National Industrial Complex, the establishment of an AI Autonomous Manufacturing Support Center, and the development of the Jinhae New Port Triport hinterland terminal. For projects requiring provincial funding, the city requested support for 13 initiatives, such as summer natural disaster (heatwave) response projects, improvements to the Seongsan Art Hall performance venue, joint responses to revitalize the old downtown area of Masan, and the replacement of artificial turf at the Taebaek-dong Sports Park futsal field. For NC partnership projects, the city requested support for improvements to baseball stadium facilities and the expansion of railway routes and extension of last train times.


Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "Securing provincial funding despite challenging fiscal conditions was possible thanks to the support of the assembly members present here," and emphasized, "I will continue to focus solely on serving our citizens in municipal administration."


The provincial assembly members who attended said, "Through this meeting, we were able to broaden our understanding of the direction of municipal administration under the acting mayor and exchange opinions. We promise to actively reflect today's various suggestions and take the lead in joint responses to local issues and in securing provincial funding."


Meanwhile, Acting Mayor Jang Geumyong is accelerating efforts to communicate both internally and externally, including recent meetings with the city council leadership, a visit to the National Policy Planning Committee, and this meeting with provincial assembly members.
