An SUV driven by a driver in their 80s crashed into a restaurant area inside the Daegwallyeong Rest Area in Gangwon Province and came to a stop. Gangwon Provincial Fire Headquarters
원본보기 아이콘Sixteen people were injured when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into the Daegwallyeong Rest Area in Gangneung.
At approximately 11:32 a.m. on July 2, an SUV driven by a man in his 80s, identified as A, crashed into the restaurant area inside the Daegwallyeong Rest Area on the Yeongdong Expressway toward Gangneung, Seongsan-myeon, Gangneung, Gangwon Province.
Sixteen people inside the restaurant were injured in the accident, with six of them sustaining moderate to serious injuries and receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. It is reported that none of the injured are in life-threatening condition as of now.
The driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and reportedly told police that he had misapplied the pedals. Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident.
